Dad gets massively shamed for putting leashes on his 5-year-old quintuplets

Parenting in modern times can be challenging. Besides family members, young parents also have to deal with online strangers giving their opinions on how to raise their children.

Jordan Driskell has five quintuplets who are all 5 years old. Taking care of five children of the same age can be challenging, especially when they are curious and love to explore.

Jordan Driskell, a 31-year-old father, found a unique way to handle his energetic children in public. He purchased child leashes to keep them under control.

Previously, Driskell owned a 6-seat stroller for their large family. However, it became tiresome as the kids didn’t like being in it and it was inconvenient to take anywhere.

This allows young children to wander and discover their surroundings while the family is out, without their dad losing sight or control of them, keeping them safe.

Driskell shared a video of the family’s trip to the aquarium, which received a lot of criticism aimed at the parents. The video of the kids on leashes became very popular, with more than 3 million views. Many people expressed their disapproval, saying that the children should not have been treated like animals.

Some people said, “If you can’t handle the stress, then don’t have too many children.”

Some people pretend to give advice, but it’s really just their disapproval. They say, “Why can’t you teach your kids better? Talk to them about the dangers of running away.”

Dr. Deborah Gilboa, a specialist in parenting and adolescent development, disagrees. She believes using a leash doesn’t make a child feel like an animal. She thinks a leash is a better choice than staying at home all the time.

Dr. Gilboa mentioned that using a leash can help younger or neuro-diverse children stay safe in public. She also pointed out that if a neurotypical child is still using a leash at ages eight or nine, it could mean they haven’t learned to listen well, which could be problematic.

At that time, parents need to be able to talk to their children instead of using leashes to control them.

Parents should be able to raise their children as they see fit without being unfairly criticized by society.
